No guards to make
their rounds.
No dogs to track him,
should he run.
No alarms for them
to sound.
No jailer tasked
to guard the key.
No towers and
no armory.
Nothing to hinder
his escape.
Just him and
his choice to make.
And yet he sits
perfectly still.
The model prisoner
with broken will.
Ensnared within his mind until
Hope comes to set him free.

Like flesh being tored away from the bone
